If you are like me, you are definitely not a morning person. I've always wanted to change this, to be productive in the morning and get stuff done . . . I've just lacked the motivation to actually do it. I have all I can do to wake up and get Audrey outside in the morning before work, and I HAVE to do that. So how is it that there are many individuals who can spring up in the morning, hit the gym and/or the streets, and get their work out done before the day has even begun?
My thinking is this: Once you get into that morning routine, you must feel exponentially better all day long, or there is no reason to continue it.
Now this is not something I have ever experienced first-hand, but I am going to find out. So this week, with you all as my witness, I shall get up early and go for a run every day. Yes, there are only three days left this week, which is partially why I want to give it a shot. I do not want to set myself up to fail! I'll let you guys know how it works out on Friday, and how I like the experiment. What I am hoping to get out of it is a new routine that really kick-starts my day, because one day I'd like to be able to run to and from work, year 'round.
Stay tuned!
I’ve always been a bit of a morning guy, but even for me getting up in the morning to run to work can be really trying. At my job I’m also on my feet for about 8 hours a day, so getting to the point I could reasonably run to work every day, as I do now, took a few months of training. Especially in the beginning, the run alone really takes it out of you, so be prepared for some sleepy-ass mornings. But in the end I found it really helps me focus, and stay sharp for the whole day! Get used to going to bed a bit earlier, though. Good luck!
I think you hit the nail right on the head for me with your last statement. I haven’t adjusted my schedule to go to bed earlier. WoW raiding might have to be cut back a bit! I am really impressed that you run to work though, that is something that I have been really wanting to get to, and I think it is going to be my goal for this project overall.
P.S I look forward to your next posts, Ellie and I both enjoyed the first.
So how did the experiment go . . . ?! (<–INTERROBANG!!!)
Failed, completely.. but that is ok!
