Short post today, as I am the only one in the lab and it is busy!

Last night Ellie and I caught a two-hour American Ninja Warrior show. All I can really say is that those people are pretty ridiculous. The amount of physical strength they have is unbelievable. I can't imagine how many hours they must spend training every day to maintain that level of endurance. Honestly, deep down I want to get to that point, but I don't think I'll ever be dedicated enough to achieve that . . . nor do I think I'd be willing to make the sacrifices needed to get there.

One thing I found pretty awesome, though, was that quite a few of the competitors that made the top-fifteen ranking were wearing Vibram Five Fingers or similar five-toe shoes. I ran to get Ellie when I saw it, as the first guy to actually complete the course (in decent time, too!) was wearing them. The commentators even elaborated on it, saying that a lot of the competitors are using them now because it promotes better balance and flexion, which helps them to grip slippery obstacles. Pretty awesome.

I imagine this is what it would look like if I tried to compete on American Ninja Warrior right now:
