Have you ever had one of those days where your brain just isn't excited to be awake? When despite your best intentions of getting stuff done, things just aren't falling into place properly?

Today is one of those days.

I've read many publications, research articles, and other texts that clearly indicate the psychological and mental benefits of exercise. Keeping to a regular schedule helps keep stress down, the body feeling good and your thoughts clear. I am amazed at how true this all really is.

It just looks creative?

When I am running, ideas come to me. I'd say that 90% of my posts formulate while I am out running. Problems at work clear up neatly. Alternative approaches suddenly pop into my head as if they were there all along, only requiring some extra blood flow to push them out. The thought potential is there waiting for a key to open it all up. Remove exercise for a few days and BAM, a complete and total reduction in mental performanceĀ takes hold. I may beĀ exaggeratingĀ a little bit sure, but it's how it feels to go from clarity to fuzzy noise.

I've talked about this concept in the past, probably several times by now. That being said, each and every time I have a lull in physical activity this concept comes back and smacks me upside the head. It blows me away at how much better I am mentally after working out for just a half hour or so.

We only took two days off, Wednesday and Thursday, this week. Tonight and tomorrow we will be running which will be nice and refreshing. Not wasting the weekend by sitting on the couch watching TV is pretty rewarding, and I highly recommend going for a Saturday morning run, even if its in the mid morning or early afternoon. IĀ think you'll be surprised at what ideas may come to you.

Have a good weekend, and get some good workouts in. Target 165 AFP!
