This past weekend was pretty action-packed! There will be a race recap tomorrow, once I get all of the media-associated files together!
This past weekend also marked the final month to go before our next major race, the Buffalo Half Marathon! We are getting into some of the longer runs of our training now, having completed six, seven, and eight miles already. We are due for a ten-miler ASAP, which I personally feel is the best benchmark before the race. Last time we did a ten-miler, there was a huge weight lifted off our shoulders when we finished this distance. I think just knowing that the actual race was only an additional 5K made everything seem very attainable.
I think it is safe to say that Ellie and I both feel a lot stronger and more ready this time around. We are pretty happy running a hometown race (despite the 7:00 a.m. start time), which gives us an extra sense of confidence going into it. Additionally, with everything that has happened in the past few weeks, we will run stronger and have an extra sense of purpose in honor of Boston. I think it will be pretty emotional and awesome.
So with that, in the next four weeks, we will come down the home stretch. We will get up to a twelve-mile run, and about twenty-five miles total at the max week. The sun is shining and the weather is getting more and more beautiful. With that, I leave you with my top running song of this season, which has gotten me more and more pumped up each and every run.
