On Saturday a group thirteen strong ventured into the wild unknown of the Niagara Gorge. Prepared with the finest refreshments from the Wegman's Market Cafe, we met up at the trail head, and proceeded down the steps onto the Whirlpool trail.
The trail is absolutely beautiful. It follows the river as it turns the corner at the whirlpool, with a nice ledge to sit and watch the water. We stopped to bask in the sun, and to enjoy the nice chilly breeze whipping through the gorge refrigerated by the still wintery Lake Erie water.
It was a ton of fun, and having such a big group take part in the hike together was an absolute pleasure. Erika remarked that it was awesome having an active group of friends to take part in stuff like this, and I could not agree more. It opens the doors to so many of the awesome natural wonders that Western New York has to offer.

It is pretty amazing . . . I think we sometimes under-appreciate it living right next door, the hike offered a fresh perspective!
