Hello Fat Nerds, it's Adrienne!
It has certainly been a while, hasn't it!? I don't even remember the last time I posted, which is a pretty bad sign. My successful weight loss and fitness progress have always directly correlated with how often I write on this fabulous blog. And, as you can see from the past 3 months of Weigh-Ins, I haven't been writing a whole lot.
In the past 7 months, I lost and then gained back 25 pounds. I gave up eating all of those delicious starchy carbohydrates and then I gave up giving up eating all of those delicious starchy carbohydrates. I'm back where I started, and my recent weight-loss roller coaster/yo-yo/parabola has been all but forgotten.
2016 just started, and naturally, I have some goals (or shall I say, resolutions) for this new year. Here are 16 goals for the next 12 months:
- Eat carbs
- But in a healthy way
- Grow a 52-week chain*
- Utilize the standing desk at work for at least 1 hr per work-day.
- Read 20 novels
- Take Penny for a 30-minute walk at least 4 times per week**
- Run a 10k again, and faster than in 2013.
- Write more blog posts!
- Do laundry more frequently.
- Save more money
- No school-night beers, wine, or other alcoholic treats.
- Build the strength to complete one real (not lady) push-up.
- Do more yoga!
- Swim more
- Keep up with a HAPPINESS journal
- Take a lunch break at least twice per week.
*For those of you that may be new, to grow a link in your 'chain' you must submit at least three 30-minute workouts between Wednesday and the following Tuesday. Build your chain, and after you have a few weeks strung together you won't want to break it!
**For those of you who don't know Penny, she is adorable.
I know making New Years' Resolutions can be silly and kind of hokey, and are notorious for being about two-week resolutions, but I think it is important to take a moment at regular intervals to reflect on where you are in your life, what your goals are, and what you can do every day to get yourself to where you want to be. You don't need to be a crazy person about it and set far-fetched goals that require you to transform into a completely different person to achieve. That isn't sustainable. But you can put a little attention and a little bit of energy into goals you truly have the potential to crush. And that is the mantra for 2016: Crush your goals.
Keep up the blogs and the good work. I’m also going to get back on track – Buffalo Half – I want an annual photo with the Bills!
You all have certainly had some nice weather for doing activities, though guess also side tracked by social and gastro commitments. Now that the weather seems to be more like winter, hoping ASB Jr is wearing a hat. lol
1) You’re awesome.
2) I wish one of your goals was to visit Albany more often OR move here!!
3) Happy New Year!
I love reading your blog posts, Adrienne. Keep it up! =)
